UNI Recognizes 2013 Bright Scholars

The Uni­ver­si­ty of North­ern Iowa, in coop­er­a­tion with the UNI Foun­da­tion, hon­ored its 2013 Bright Schol­ars at a recent lun­cheon. The schol­ars include:


  • Amy Nordyke
  • Zachary Rye
  • Jesse Soren­son
  • Bai­ley St. Clair
  • Ann Strom


Judy Ruud, wife of UNI Pres­i­dent William Rudd, attend­ed the recep­tion as a spe­cial guest. Also in atten­dance were:


  • Bren­da Bass – Inter­im Dean, Col­lege of Social and Behav­ioral Sciences
  • Mary Her­ring – Asso­ciate Dean, Col­lege of Education
  • Joel Haack – Dean, Col­lege of Human­i­ties, Arts and Sciences
  • Farzad Mous­savi – Dean, Col­lege of Busi­ness Administration
  • Bill Cal­houn – Vice Pres­i­dent for Uni­ver­si­ty Advancement
  • Joyce Mor­row – Direc­tor, Finan­cial Aid and Scholarships
  • Bob Fan­ter – Direc­tor, the Bright Foundation
  • Wes Ritchie – Direc­tor, the Bright Foundation


In addi­tion, 2012 Bright Schol­ar Gar­rett Miller spoke with the new schol­ars about his expe­ri­ence dur­ing his first year on cam­pus. Bai­ley St. Clair spoke about her first month attend­ing UNI, and Jesse Soren­son thanked the Bright Foun­da­tion for its finan­cial support.
